At the end of this course graduates will be capable of working under close supervision.


This programme is made up of compulsory and optional components:

Health and Safety (compulsory component)

At the end of the topic you will be able to:

  • Locate hazards and describe safety procedures,
  • Work safely in a rural workplace
  • Understand the consequences of injury.

Graduates will be able to:

  • Carry out a range of seasonal tasks including:
    • Plant trees.
    • Care for trees.
    • Prepare to apply and apply, agrichemicals using hand held equipment.
    • Use, maintain and store agrichemical personal protective equipment.
  • Identify a range of plants by botanical and common name, and their basic features.
  • Assist with general arboriculture duties.
  • Demonstrate basic chainsaw operation and the rules relating to chainsaw use.
  • Use safe work practices in the workplace, including hazard identification.
  • Operate vehicles and machinery under close supervision.

Note programme fee excludes vehicle and chainsaw units.
