  • Use and maintain vehicles, machinery and infrastructure in the workplace.

Farm safety

At the end of this topic you will be able to:

  • Work safely, keeping yourself and others safe
  • Identify and report hazards, have an awareness of personal safety and other factors which can affect safety.

Vehicle safety

Five types of vehicle training are available – Tractor, Motorbike, Quad bike, 4WD and/or LUV (Light Utility Vehicle). 

At the end of this topic you will be able to:

  • Carry out pre-start and safety checks 
  • Operate the vehicle in a safe and responsible manner without damage to the vehicle or operator 
  • Ride/drive the vehicle confidently on varied terrain.


You will be able to choose from the following: 

  • Chainsaws
  • Machinery maintenance
  • Power take off machinery
  • Motorised agrichemical application
  • Post hole borers.


You will be able to choose from the following: 

  • Maintain primary industry infrastructure
  • Fences
  • Irrigation.


There is no prerequisite for this course and no recommended minimum time on farm before starting this training programme.
