At the end of this programme you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the skills to care for paddocked and stabled horses
  • Groom a horse, clean stables, analyse horse feed
  • Recognise health and ill health in horses
  • Evaluate a horse’s conformation and action
  • Deal with an emergency situation involving horses
  • Prepare a mare for serving and hold for service
  • Care for a sick foal and assist in foaling a mare
  • Prepare yearlings for sales and attend sales.

Entry requirements 

Candidates should have completed the National Certificate in Equine (Breeding) (Level 3).
