At the end of this programme you will be able to:

  • Understand health and safety related to tractor and ATV use and all orchard machinery 
  • Understand pests and diseases that affect fruit crops and know about integrated pest management
  • Understand weeds and control them
  • Monitor levels of pests and diseases and beneficial organisms
  • Train and prune fruit trees to maximise the crop
  • Use spray equipment and tractors (advanced)
  • Monitor fruit maturity
  • Control weeds with a sprayer
  • Maintain and monitor fruit temperature at harvest time.

Entry Requirements 

It is recommended that candidates complete National Certificate in Horticulture (Intermediate) Level 3 before entering this course.


*If a Level 3 certificate in horticulture has been completed then the duration of this programme is only 6 months.
