At the end of this programme you will be able to:

  • Work safely, keeping yourself and others safe
  • Show knowledge of general garden maintenance including planting and care of plants, pruning and weeding
  • Identify a range of plants, pests, diseases and weeds
  • Control pests, diseases and weeds
  • Explain the structure of plants and how they grow
  • Show knowledge of soils and fertilisers
  • Operate and maintain tools, machinery and vehicles used in horticulture.

  • Control pests, diseases and weeds
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the structure of plants and how they grow
  • Site clearance and preparation and installing drainage (Landscape only)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of soils and fertilisers.

Entry Requirements

It is recommended that candidates complete the National Certificate in Horticulture Level 1 before entering the course. 

 

*If a Level 1 certificate in Horticulture has been completed the duration of this programme is only 5 months.
