At the end of this course graduates will be capable of working under close supervision.


This programme is made up of compulsory and optional components:

Health and Safety (compulsory component)

At the end of the topic you will be able to:

  • Locate hazards and describe safety procedures,
  • Work safely in a rural workplace
  • Understand the consequences of injury.

Graduates will be able to:

  • Carry out a range of tasks including:
    • Plant and maintain displays of bedding plants, bulb or herbaceous perennials.
    • Plant trees, shrubs and establish turf areas.
    • Prepare to apply and apply, agrichemicals using hand held equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Identify a range of plant and their basic features.
  • Prepare mortar or concrete on site.
  • Assist with site preparation and laying hard surfaces.
  • Assist with surface finishing of timber, masonry, or metal landscape structures.
  • Assist with installation of drainage.
  • Use safe work practices in the workplace, including hazard identification.
  • Operate vehicles and machinery under close supervision

Note programme fee excludes vehicle and chainsaw units.
