Learners must be employed in the sector, have completed the New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture - Level 3 and had at least two years on-farm.
Summary
This apprenticeship is suitable for Stock/Block Managers. As an apprentice, learners will receive personal mentoring and support from their Primary ITO Training Adviser who will meet with them and their employer regularly throughout the year to help set goals and review progress.
Learning outcomes
The first topic to start will depend on the season. Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision with responsibility for their duties and work outcomes.
Topics include:
- Farm environment planning
- Feeding, pastoral production systems and benchmarking
- Maintenance and agribusiness activities
- Health, mating and parturition management
- Production plan.
