Summary
The New Zealand Certificate in Equine Racing has three strands available:
- Harness Racing Driver
- Harness Driver Trainer
- Thoroughbred Racing Jockey Strand
This programme is aimed at people who have previous experience handling horses in the equine industry.
Learning outcomes
This qualification has strands to reflect the specialist skills required in the racing industry.
Topics include:
- communicate effectively with industry participants
- understand racing industry judicial system and processes
- ride thoroughbred racehorses at trials and raceday
- gear up and drive standardbred horses at racing workouts, trials and raceday
- manage personal finances for racing purposes.
