Summary
This qualification will provide those working in the energy and chemical process industry the entry level skills to operate plant and machinery. The boiler maker strand recognises specialist skills and knowledge required to operate a boiler up to 20MW liquid and gas fuel, or up to 6 MW solid fuel.
Depending on whether they complete the Boiler maker strand, learners will achieve one of the following qualifications:
- NZ Certificate in Energy and Chemical Process Operations (Level 3)
- NZ Certificate in Energy and Chemical Process Operations – Boiler maker (Level 3)
Learning outcomes
Learners will have knowledge of health and safety and regulatory requirements of the industry, knowledge of drawings, instrumentation and thermodynamics of the industry, operate a range of plant and equipment and carry out sampling in the industry.
Learners of the boiler maker strand will have knowledge of steam generation and combustion theory to operate and monitor boilers.
